Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is a tactical role-playing game from Nippon Ichi Software, continuing the Disgaea series. It launched in Japan on January 26, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, then arrived in North America on October 3, 2023, with a Microsoft Windows version as well. A bundled edition called Disgaea 7 Complete, which includes all prior downloadable content, came out for the same consoles in Japan on July 25, 2024; no Western release date has been announced for any platform, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
The gameplay follows the tactical role-playing format of its predecessor. Players control Fuji, a demon warrior, and his companion Pirilika on an adventure through the netherworld of Hinomoto. New features include "Jumbability," which lets the player character grow in size. The game also introduces competitive multiplayer, a first for the franchise.
Nippon Ichi Software officially revealed the Western version in February 2023 (specifically during a Nintendo Direct on February 8, 2023). A demo for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch was released on August 17, 2023 in Japan and August 22, 2023 in North America.
On review aggregator Metacritic, the game earned "generally favorable" reviews. OpenCritic reported "mighty" approval, with 96% of critics recommending it. In Japan, four Famitsu critics each gave it an 8 out of 10, for a total of 32 out of 40. During its first week in Japan, the game sold 13,094 physical copies on Switch, 3,568 on PlayStation 4, and 2,324 on PlayStation 5, plus 31,014 digital copies.
